The free world won: Saluting the men and women who defeated the Japanese in World War II

For Americans, the war started on Dec. 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor. For Russians, it started on June 22, 1941, when Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. For the Brits and other Europeans, it started on Sept. 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. For the Chinese, it started when Japan attacked on July 7, 1937, or even earlier when Japan invaded Manchuria on Sept. 18, 1931.
