Canada Agrees To Pay $10 Million To The Islamic Terrorist Who Killed An American Solider

Yesterday, as we Americans celebrated the birth of our country and the freedoms that our homeland affords, and days after Canadians celebrated their independence, the Canadian government agreed to pay $10.5 million to Omar Khadr, a Canadian-born Muslim who radicalized, became a terrorist, and killed an American soldier in a firefight in Afghanistan.

Canada’s Supreme Court ruled that Khadr, who was 15 when American troops captured him after a grenade he threw ended the life of U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer, deserved an apology and reparations for his treatment at Guantanamo Bay.

An official familiar with the deal said Tuesday that Omar Khadr will receive $10.5 million. The official was not authorized to discuss the deal publicly before the announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity. The government and Khadr’s lawyers negotiated the deal last month.

Khadr spent a decade at Guantanamo before returning north of the border under an agreement by the Obama administration. He went free in 2015.

Khadr’s case became a cause célèbre for the Canadian left, who viewed him as a “child soldier” whom the American military treated too roughly. What the left never admitted to was that this “child” ended the life of an American soldier, a husband and father of two.

Over at The Rebel, Canada’s leading right-of-center news outlet, Ezra Levant reflected the outrage of conservatives in his country:

We do know that he killed U.S. Army medic Christopher Speer, husband to Tabitha Speer, dad to Taryn and Tanner Speer.

Before Khadr killed him, Speer spent as much time giving first aid to Afghan kids as he did to U.S. soldiers.

[…]

But the Obama administration cut a deal, so he’s back on Canada’s streets.

And now Trudeau is giving him an apology and more than $10 million.

Not a penny, though, for the family of Christopher Speer.

That’s Trudeau’s message to America on the Fourth of July.

And it’s Trudeau message to every one of us, including our armed forces, our wounded vets from Afghanistan too.

It’s an absolute affront to decency that Canada’s left – including Prime Minister Trudeau – views the life of a young convicted terrorist as more valuable than that of the solider he killed. Trudeau should be ashamed of himself, as should those who helped perpetrate this total miscarriage of justice.
